Privacy Policy

Our approach

SharpDomainSearch is a search tool, not a platform. We do not require an account, we do not sell your data, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we do collect, why, and how it is handled.

1. Information We Collect

Keywords you search

When you enter a keyword, we use it to generate domain name combinations and check availability. Searches may be temporarily cached to improve performance and power our trending data. We do not link searches to your identity.

Your shortlist

Domains you save are stored in your browser's localStorage only — they never leave your device unless you click "Continue to checkout", at which point the selected domains are passed directly to the registrar's website as URL parameters. We do not store your shortlist on our servers.

Usage analytics

We collect anonymised, aggregated data about page visits, search frequency, and popular keywords. This data contains no personally identifiable information and is used solely to understand how the tool is performing.

Server logs

Our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) automatically records standard HTTP request logs — IP address, browser type, page requested, and timestamp. These logs are retained for a short period for security and debugging purposes and are not used for marketing.

2. Cookies & Local Storage

We use localStorage (not cookies) to persist your saved domain shortlist between sessions. No tracking cookies are set by SharpDomainSearch itself. Third-party services we use (such as Cloudflare and analytics providers) may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies.

3. Affiliate Links & Third-Party Registrars

When you click "Register" or "Continue to checkout", you are redirected to a third-party domain registrar (currently Namecheap) via an affiliate link. That link includes a tracking parameter that identifies SharpDomainSearch as the referrer, allowing us to earn a commission on completed purchases.

Once you leave SharpDomainSearch, the registrar's own privacy policy governs how your data is handled. We recommend reviewing it before completing a purchase. We do not receive your payment information or personal details from registrars.

4. Infrastructure & Sub-processors

SharpDomainSearch is built on Cloudflare infrastructure (Pages, Workers, KV). Cloudflare may process request data as described in their privacy policy. We do not use any advertising networks, social trackers, or data brokers.

5. Data Retention

We do not maintain user accounts or persistent profiles. Server log data is retained for a short period (typically 30 days) for operational purposes, after which it is deleted. Cached search data is automatically expired and not linked to individuals.

6. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal data beyond standard server logs, there is little for us to retrieve or delete on your behalf. Your shortlist exists only in your own browser and can be cleared at any time using the "Clear all" option in the Saved Domains panel, or by clearing your browser's localStorage.

7. Children

SharpDomainSearch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision was made. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
